Jones Confirms United Stay Hopes

Phil Jones has confirmed that he would like to stay at Manchester United for the long-term but claims the decision is not up to him.

The 26-year-old England international, who moved to Old Trafford from Blackburn Rovers back in 2011 for £17million, is out of contract at the end of the season and has been waiting to hear back from the Red Devils.

Jones, like Juan Mata, Ander Herrera and Antonio Valencia, could all leave on a free transfer if United do not tie them down to new deals before the summer.

Despite now being free to line up a move to another club, Jones has broken his silence to make it clear that he does not want to play anywhere else.

He said: “I’m very settled – I’ve been settled for a long time here. Ever since I walked through the door I was made to feel very welcome. “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time – it’s been great and long may it continue.

Of course I do [want to stay] – it’s Man United. This club has been part of my life for many years now.”
