Jones Uncertainty Leads To Prem Interest

The continued uncertainty over Phil Jones’ Manchester United future has piqued the interest of several Premier League clubs.

The Old Trafford central defender is out of contract in the summer and is still waiting to learn if the Red Devils will be extending his stay.

Jones has been at United for nine years and has made it clear he wants to continue pulling on the famous red jersey, with a lot of goodwill on both sides of the negotiating table.

However, it’s understood Jones won’t be short of offers if the club does decide to let him walk away on a free transfer and remove his reported £100,000-per-week wages from the payroll.

Newcastle United are long-time admirers, while Everton and West Ham United would have little problem meeting his financial terms and are understood to be keeping a watching brief.

Caretaker boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is a fan of the player and Jones is still only aged 26, meaning it could make more sense for United to tie him down and be able to realise a significant fee later down the line.

The England international has been plagued by repeated injury problems for much of his time since his £17m arrival from Blackburn Rovers in 2010.
