Atletico Madrid have completed the signing of AC Milan striker Nikola Kalinic on a three-year contract.
The 30-year-old Croatia international, who was sent home from this summer’s World Cup in Russia after refusing to come off the bench against Nigeria, citing a back problem, was targeted by Atleti coach Diego Simeone as quality back-up to number one striker Diego Costa at the Wanda Metropolitano.
Kalinic, who started his career at Hadjuk Split in his homeland, and had spells in England with Blackburn and Ukraine at Dnipro, then scored 33 goals in two years with Italian side Fiorentina.
He joined Milan on a season-long loan last summer and scored six goals in 31 Serie A outings last term, before the Rossoneri made the deal permanent.
However, they have immediately sold him on for an undisclosed fee to Atletico Madrid.
