Kapino Pens New Werder Contract

Werder Bremen have tied down goalkeeper Stefanos Kapino to a new long-term contract. The 25-year-old Greece international shot-stopper moved to the Bundesliga outfit from Nottingham Forest 12 months ago and made just one appearance when he replaced the injured Jiri Pavlenka during April’s 2-1 win over SC Freiburg.

And, while he is likely to be understudy again next season, Kapino is delighted to pen a contract extension. He told the club’s website: “I’m very happy that I will continue to be part of the Werder family and am really looking forward to continue working with the coaches at this club. “The contract extension is, for me, a sign of trust in my work.

The club and I both want success and I will do everything I can to achieve that.” Coach Florian Kohfeldt added: “I can only reiterate my appreciation of him once again. Stefanos is a great asset for our team. He gives everything in every training session and away from the pitch he also brings elements to the team that we don’t want to lose.”
