Jonjoe Kenny is confident Everton can kick on under Marco Silva, despite Sunday’s 3-1 defeat to West Ham. The Toffees were unbeaten heading into the game against the Hammers but struggled to find their rhythm, conceding twice in the first half to Andriy Yarmolenko goals and despite a header on the stroke of half-time from Gylfi Sigurdsson, Marko Arnautovic sealed the points on the hour.
Kenny was making his maiden league start of the season due to an injury to Seamus Coleman and provided the assist for Sigurdsson.
It was the Toffees’ first defeat under Marco Silva but the young Englishman says that has not dented the squad’s faith in the boss.
The 21-year-old has praised the Portuguese’s methods, contending that his preferred style is perfect for the squad.
“The gaffer is brilliant,” he told the club’s official website. “The way he wants us to play is how I like to play, it’s high intensity and with a lot of pressing.
“If we all get behind it we can produce good performances and be a good team. We are going to be in some tough times this season but we’ve all got to stick together – the fans and the players – and believe that we are going to produce.”
