Klitschko Ends Comeback Rumours

Ex-heavyweight king Wladimir Klitschko has poured cold water over reports suggesting he will be making a return to the ring this year. Ukrainian star Klitschko, who won 64 of his 69 bouts during his career, retired from boxing after losing to Anthony Joshua in a memorable fight at Wembley Stadium in April 2017.
However, the former unified world heavyweight champion was tipped to make a return this year and there were growing reports he could have a rematch with Joshua at the same venue.
But to the disappointment of boxing fans, the 42-year-old revealed he will not be lacing up his gloves again, despite feeling like he could still mix it up with the best in the division. “I’m all about challenges in life and I do really feel that I ‘still got it’,” he posted on his Twitter account. “Recently many of you contacted me willing to see me making a comeback to the ring this April and I’m thankful to y’all for that. “However, I need to call such speculation an early April fool’s day joke.”
Klitschko’s comments mean Joshua, who is booked to fight at Wembley this April, is still searching for an opponent and it appears Dillian Whyte is the leading contender to take on his fellow Briton.
