Klopp Reiterates Transfer Stance

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has reiterated that he does not expect to be overly active in the transfer market. The Reds have spent big over recent years with the likes of Virgil van Dijk and Allison coming into the club. They have been more low key during the current window and the only new arrival to date is teenage Dutch defender Sepp van den Berg.

Liverpool have been tipped to sign a new left-back to provide cover for Andy Robertson following Alberto Moreno’s departure, while a big-money return for Phillipe Coutinho has also been mooted in certain quarters. Klopp has been quick to play down those suggestions, however, and not for the first time during recent weeks has claimed he does not expect to be too active when it comes to transfers.

“We are pretty relaxed in that, we will see what’s coming up,” Klopp said. “How I said, it will not be the biggest transfer window of LFC; we invested a lot in the team in the last two years, I would say. We cannot spend every year in the same manner.”

The former Borussia Dortmund boss is not feeling under pressure to strengthen and is more than happy with the squad that tasted Champions League glory last season and also narrowly missed out on a first Premier League title. “I’m happy with the team, we are really happy,” Klopp added. “We have to see if we find maybe one position, if we find something for it, but there’s no real pressure because it’s not about signing a player. We have solutions for all the situations.”
