Koepka Targeting 10 Majors

Koepka Targeting 10 Majors

Brooks Koepka feels he can go on to win at least 10 majors as he prepare to defend his US PGA Championship title at Bethpage. The 29-year-old American, who cut his teeth on the European Tour before rising to prominence stateside, broke his duck in the majors at the 2017 US Open before successfully defending that title 12 months later.

The Florida resident then added the Wanamaker Trophy to his collection last August and will attempt to go back-to-back in the tournament’s new slot on the golfing calendar. Many players never get to lift any of the big four trophies and being a multiple major winner is a special achievement, but Koepka insists he enjoys the challenge of taking on the world’s best and sees no reason why he cannot pocket many more.

“I don’t see why you can’t get to double digits,” Koepka told reporters. “I think sometimes the majors are the easiest ones to win. Half the people shoot themselves out of it and mentally I know I can beat most of them. “Then from there, it’s those guys left and who’s going to play good and who can win. I don’t see any reason it can’t get to double digits.”

Koepka will play with Tiger Woods and Francesco Molinari during the first two rounds in New York and made it clear that the sight of the 15-time major winner and current Masters champion will not intimidate him. “I mean, what’s the point in fearing anybody. We’re not fighting,” Koepka added, referring to Woods. “He’s not going to knock my teeth in. He’s not going to hurt me. So what’s there to be afraid of?”
