Kolisi Hails “Special” Springboks Team

South Africa skipper Siya Kolisi says his side are very well prepared to head to the World Cup in Japan. The Springboks are set to take on the tournament hosts in Kumagaya on Friday in their final warm up match before jetting off to the Far East, where they will take on New Zealand in their first pool match.

It will be Kolisi’s first time captaining his country since last year following injury. A serious knee problem threatened his participation in the tournament but he has since battled back to full fitness. Kolisi says he kept close tabs on the squad and their preparations while he was out and says they have an excellent group heading to Japan.

“I could see how hard the guys were working,” Kolisi said. “I have to say, this is a special group and what makes them so special is that they work so hard for one another.

“Rather than coming back into a team that was losing all the time, I was coming back into a team that was winning, which was extra pressure. “The support I have had from my team-mates has been amazing. That’s one thing I enjoy about this team – I’m just grateful to be part of it.”
