Laurent Koscielny has praised team-mate Alex Iwobi’s work ethic and feels he has the ability to become a superstar for Arsenal. Iwobi made his Premier League debut for the Gunners back in 2015 and appeared to have the world at his feet but his career seems to have stalled over the past few seasons.
The 22-year-old did make 26 top-flight appearances in both the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons but netted just six times across both campaigns, leading to criticism from fans and pundits alike.
However, it seems as though he has had a new lease of life under Unai Emery and has impressed, scoring once in the league and playing a big part in Arsenal’s 4-2 Europa League triumph over Vorskla Poltava last Thursday.
He still has a long way to go but Koscielny sees positive signs and believes the sky is the limit for the Nigeria international.
“He has huge potential and he needs to realise how good he could become,” he wrote in the Arsenal programme. “Right now, he is definitely on the right path to do just that. He is working hard at training and his confidence is high since Unai Emery arrived.
“If you look at him he has everything. He is strong physically, quick, good technically and his movement is good. He needs to be more efficient and clinical so he scores and assists more.
“He is very receptive and listen to advice so I have no doubt that he will continue his progression.”
