Lampard Cuts Eight Kids From Tour Squad

Youngsters Dujon Sterling, Conor Gallagher and Marc Guehi have been told they won’t feature for Chelsea this season. The talented trio are among a group of eight young players who were axed from the Blues’ pre-season tour as Frank Lampard whittles down his group ahead of the new campaign.

Officially the eight, which also includes Lewis Baker, Izzy Brown, Lucas Piazon, Ike Ugbo and Trevoh Chalobah, will return to Cobham “continue their preparations for the new season.”

But it seems a certainty that they will find, or be found, new clubs to play for as Chelsea continue their policy of farming out talented players under Lampard to gain first-team experience elsewhere.

All eight featured in Chelsea’s first friendly on Wednesday, a 1-1 draw with Irish side Bohemians, and six of the eight were out on loan last campaign.
