Frank Lampard is set to sign a three-year deal with Chelsea and will be given every chance to see it out as reports claim he will be given time. Stamford Bridge has had something of a revolving door under the leadership of Roman Abramovich, with a number of high-profile managers coming and going in recent years, but Lampard will be given time to prove his worth.
Derby have given Lampard permission to speak to Chelsea officials and reports claim that it will not take long to sort out as the former Blues midfielder is ready to accept the terms that will be put on the table. It is thought Lampard just wanted assurances over how much time he will be given due to his lack of experience, and the potential minefield he is walking into following the departure of Eden Hazard and the transfer embargo.
It is claimed that Lampard will at the very least be given a season and will not be axed before then, with the Blues hierarchy accepting that the top four could be beyond them next season. Chelsea are set to pay Derby £4million in compensation, while Lampard’s contract is nowhere near the kind of figures paid to Maurizio Sarri and Antonio Conte, making it a relatively cheap process for Abramovich.
