Lealiifano Deserves World Cup Berth – McKellar

Brumbies fly-half Christian Lealiifano deserves to go to the World Cup with Australia, according to coach Dan McKellar. The No. 10 hasn’t represented his country since being diagnosed with cancer in 2017 but his domestic form has led to a recall. He was invited to his first Wallabies camp since beating the illness earlier this week and will have the opportunity to fight for a starting role.

McKellar, who watched on as Lealiifano played a key role in Friday’s 22-10 victory over Bulls, was delighted to see another top performance from his man and has backed the 31-year-old to claim World Cup berth later this year. “He’s been outstanding, just consistently good every week and off the back of his defence, his leadership and direction,” Dan McKellar said.

“There was a key point in the game there with 10 or 15 minutes to go and he just had the boys connected and we do a lot of work on that, just delivering a key message, his leadership has been outstanding. “He’d be my 10 (at the World Cup), but I’m a little bit biased.”
