LeBron James says the LA Lakers need to improve “at everything” but felt there were positives from their preseason opener. James made the switch from Cleveland Cavaliers at the end of last season and made his debut in the Lakers’ 124-107 loss to Denver Nuggets at the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego.
The three-time NBA Champion managed nine points, three rebounds and three assists in 15 minutes and will see more action on Tuesday when LA host Denver in another preseason game.
James felt there were issues with his new team’s defensive play but was encouraged by other aspects of their approach to the game.
When asked what he liked from the Lakers’ performance, he said: “We’re just trying to move the ball, share the ball, get the ball from side to side and then just communicating defensively, flying around, gang rebounding. We did give up some offensive rebounds early on in the first quarter that if we clean those up we can get out in transition. But our pace was good and our space was good.”
On where they could improve, he added: “Everything. We got to get better at everything.”
