Leuluai Unsure Of Future

Wigan Warriors half-back Thomas Leuluai admits he is unsure whether he will retire at the end of the season or not.

The 33-year-old will be entering his third straight season with the Super League champions after rejoining the club from New Zealand Warriors in 2017.

Despite playing as half-back mainly throughout his career, he is expecting to operate as a hooker under new coach Adrian Lam, with Shaun Wane departing at the end of last season to take a role with Scottish Rugby.

Leuluai is remaining coy about his future plans and says he does not want to announce his retirement too soon, with an agreement in place for him to join the coaching staff once he hangs up his boots.

“I’ll see how I go,” he said. “I don’t think you can put an end date on it. “There are a lot of things to weigh up, I’ll see how I feel. Physically I think I’ll be okay, it’s just how mentally I am. “So there’s no point saying, ‘I’ll retire then’ – but I’ll go into it with an open mind.”
