Simon Mignolet looks set to leave Liverpool this summer after his agent confirmed they are in talks with Napoli. The Belgian fell behind Loris Karius in the goalkeeping ranks last term and the arrival of Alisson Becker this summer has forced him further down the pecking order.
Mignolet has made it clear that he wants to find a way out of Anfield and it looks like Napoli are ready to offer him that opportunity, according to his agent Nico Vaesen.
“We’re in talks but there’s no agreement yet, although it’s in the interests of the clubs to find one,” Vaesen told La Derniere Heure.
“Liverpool would like to keep him, but Simon wants to play and must play. He deserves a top club.
“For [Napoli], Mignolet is their best option in terms of quality, but we must also consider the economic aspect.”
The Italian club are eager to bring in a goalkeeper before Friday’s transfer deadline after Alex Meret suffered an arm injury and have also been linked with Arsenal’s David Ospina recently.
