Gundogan – Liverpool Have Been ‘Lucky’

Manchester City star Ilkay Gundogan says Liverpool are fortunate to still be in the Premier League title race. The Reds are currently top of the standings on 82 points, two clear of second-placed City although the Citizens have the chance to move back to the summit when they travel to Selhurst Park on Sunday to take on Crystal Palace.

Germany international Gundogan, who has scored five goals from 25 league appearances this season, has been having his say on the title race and he believes Liverpool have been getting away with things in recent weeks. “Liverpool are desperate to be champions,” he said.

“They want to win the Premier League more than the Champions League. But everything is in our hands. I think we have played the better football. We were seven points behind them and then we went ahead of them. “If we win our game in hand, we will go past them and be the leaders.

We shouldn’t forget that. I think they have been very lucky in the past one or two months. They have scored a lot of late goals recently. “Everything is in our hands. If we win the last six games then we will be champions.” City also have a crucial Champions League quarter-final tie at home to Tottenham on Wednesday night as the hosts look to bounce back from the 1-0 defeat suffered in the first leg.
