Rafael Benitez has played down speculation over his future with Newcastle and insists he will eventually enter into contract talks. The Spaniard took charge of the Magpies in March 2016 and was tasked with trying to keep the north-east outfit in the Premier League.
He did manage to improve their form but couldn’t prevent them from dropping down to the Championship.
Newcastle convinced Benitez to stay on in the second tier and after winning an immediate return to the top flight, he guided them to a 10th-place finish last term.
Benitez recently entered the final year of his current contract and speculation has been rife suggesting he could move on.
However, Benitez insists he isn’t worried about the ongoing situation and claims he will eventually sit down for talks.
Benitez said: “We will wait and we can talk in the future about that. My contract is not an issue.”
