Newcastle are being heavily linked with signing strikers Mattia Destro and Sebastien Haller during the January transfer window. The Magpies have found goals hard to come by this season, as only Huddersfield have found the back of net fewer times in the Premier League.
Indeed, Joselu is the only Newcastle player that has netted more than one league goal so far this term, while summer signing Salomon Rondon is yet to get off the mark.
Boss Rafael Benitez is expected to address his striking concerns when the transfer window opens in January and Italy international Destro is one player he is reportedly keeping tabs on.
The 27-year-old, who was linked with a big-money move to Chelsea earlier in his career, has only started two Serie A games for current club Bologna this season and he could be ready for a new challenge after spending his entire career to date in Italy.
The Magpies have also again been linked with former France under-21 star Haller, who has been one of the standout performers in the Bundesliga for Eintracht Frankfurt this season, scoring seven from his eight starts in the German top flight to date.
Newcastle wanted him in the summer but aren’t the only club interested in Haller now, however, as Tottenham and Borussia Dortmund are also monitoring the 24-year-old’s progress.
