Mahoney Has Bournemouth Chance – Howe

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe says Connor Mahoney has a future at the club after his loan spell last season. Former England U20 international Mahoney spent the 2018/19 campaign on loan at Championship outfit Birmingham City and he was a key first-team fixture at St Andrew’s, making 30 league appearances and scoring two goals.

The 22-year-old has now returned to parent club Bournemouth and Howe hinted the winger could be handed more opportunities for the senior side, having yet to make his league debut for the Cherries. “It’s a great sign for us,” he the Bournemouth Echo. “It gives us confidence that Connor can come back here and be part of our future.

He has had to do it the hard way this year. Fair play to him for that. “The season that Birmingham had was quite a complex one with the points deduction and they’re all great experiences for him. That will help him for the future.”
