Mbappe Doubts PSG’s Euro Credentials

Kylian Mbappe has hailed the progress made by Paris Saint-Germain but feels they are still underdogs in the Champions League. The 19-year-old is in his first season as a permanent PSG player, having spent last term on loan at Parc des Princes, scoring 13 goals as the capital club claimed the Ligue 1 title.

The France forward has scored 11 goals in just eight top-flight games this campaign to help Thomas Tuchel’s men to a perfect record after 12 games, with a 10-point lead at the top of the standings.

With a star-studded squad and the likes of Neymar in the side, winning Europe’s top club competition might have been considered as one of this season’s targets, but Mbappe believe they are not yet at a level to lift the trophy.

“I think that PSG is a club that has grown since the arrival of the new owners,” he told ESPN FC. “It has not stopped growing and we need to grow with the club before immediately thinking about the Champions League final and winning the competition.”
