PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe says he is determined to win the Ballon d’Or in December and has doing all he can to ensure he does.
Mbappe is still a teenager but has had a year to remember, as on the back of 21 goals last season in France, he scored four times in the World Cup finals with the eventual champions and was named the best young player at the tournament.
With 15 goals in as many games this season for PSG and for France, he believes he is giving himself the best opportunity to pick up the prize.
Croatia’s Luka Modric remains the favourite after his success at the FIFA world player of the year award in September but the 19-year-old feels he is well in the running for the gong. “If I’m going to win it, I do not know, at least I put all the ingredients on my side to win it,” said Mbappe.
“I did everything I could until the last day of the vote. I will have no regrets, all that will happen is a bonus, and then I can not vote instead of people! “I think a Ballon d’Or is based on highlights in the year. We are in a World Cup year so it’s sure that the World Cup will weigh in.
“After that, it’s still over a whole year, I’ve had a very good start to the season, so we’ll see what it’s going to be like.”
