Toronto Wolfpack have appointed treble-winning boss Brian McDermott as their new head coach for next season. Toronto were just pipped to the post for the final Super League place for next season when they lost at home to the London Broncos in the Million Pound Game last month.
They have now appointed McDermott to replace Paul Rowley as the man in charge to try and get them into Super League via promotion next season, whoever finishes top in the Championship will be playing Super League the year after.
The 48-year-old spent eight trophy laden years at the Rhinos’ helm before he was axed in June following a poor run of results. “Toronto Wolfpack offers a challenge and ambition that not many other clubs have,” McDermott said. “I’m excited on being a part of something that could genuinely be a game changer for rugby league in the UK.”
