McNamara Proud Of Performance

Catalans Dragons head coach Steve McNamara has praised his men after they edged past Wakefield Trinity at the Magic Weekend.

Fresh off a historic victory over Wigan Warriors at the Nou Camp, Catalans made a bright start to the opening game of the weekend at Anfield.

Fouad Yaha got Catalans off on a positive note before Tony Gigot’s try and goal helped them into a 12-0 lead at half time.

Wakefield battled their way back into the clash after the restart and the game looked set for golden-point extra time following Ben Jones-Bishop’s 69th minute try to level the scores at 18-18.

But the final say went to Catalans, Ben Garcia going over late on for his second try of the match before full-back Gigot clinched victory with a drop goal in the 79th minute.

McNamara told Sky Sports: “Extremely proud, after a huge event for the club last week. “Really, really pleased with the players, we could have folded at the start of the second half but without being great we found a way to win. “It has put us in a decent position.”
