AC Milan midfielder Alen Halilovic will be allowed to leave the club on loan despite only arriving at the San Siro this summer. New sporting director Leonardo is said to be working on a number of deals to rid Milan of players who will not figure too much in the first-team this season, and Halilovic is said to be one of them.
The Croatian’s chances of game time have been hampered by the arrival of Samu Castillejo from Villarreal, while Andrea Bertolacci has returned from Genoa.
It means there is no room in coach Genarro Gattuso’s squad for Halilovic, and a return to Spain could be on the cards with both Girona and Espanyol said to have expressed their interest.
While on the books of Barcelona, the former Dinamo Zagreb star was loaned out to Sporting Gijon and Las Palmas, and it looks as though another stint in Spain could be on the cards.
Clubs throughout Europe have until Friday to wrap up any transfer business before the window closes.
