Neymar feels he is back on top form for Paris Saint-Germain after hitting a double in the 3-0 win at Nice on Saturday.
The forward hit the Ligue 1 champions’ opener in the first half and completed his brace in injury time, with Kylian Mbappe providing the assist.
Neymar carried the hopes of his nation at the World Cup in the summer but managed just two goals in five games as his Brazil side were dumped out in the quarter-finals.
The 26-year-old had only just returned from a three-month spell on the sidelines prior to the showpiece event in Russia due to a foot injury, and may still have been struggling with the lingering effects of that lay-off throughout the World Cup.
The former Barcelona man seems to be back to his best now however, as his double against Nice ensured he has scored nine goals in his last 10 appearances for club and country – having found the back of the net for Brazil against the USA and El Salvador during the international break in September.
“It was an important win. We won playing good football, everybody chipped in and we head back to Paris with all three points,” he told reporters after the win over Nice.
“I am very happy with my performance – I feel good and in form right now and I am very happy to have scored.”
Neymar drew a blank in PSG’s Champions League defeat at Liverpool last month and will be keen to open his account in Europe when the French giants come up against Red Star Belgrade at the Parc des Princes in Group C on Wednesday.
The Parisian outfit will be expected to claim the win, but Red Star held Napoli to a draw in their opener in Serbia and Neymar and his team-mates will know a win will be crucial after their loss at Anfield as they seek to qualify for the knockout stages.
