Eddie Howe has no new injury problems for Bournemouth’s trip to West Ham while Jefferson Lerma could make his debut. The Cherries got off to a flying start to their new Premier League season with a 2-0 win against Cardiff City last Saturday and they will look to continue that form going to the London Stadium to face the Hammers.
Colombia international Lerma joined in a club-record deal worth around £25million from Levante earlier this month but he was not ready to face the Bluebirds last week.
Howe has revealed that he has looked good in training this week, but he remains undecided on whether to play him against West Ham.
He told his pre-match press conference: “He’s had a good week in training. The thing we’ve got to remember is that he’s had minimal training after the World Cup, but his performance and endurance levels are getting better with each training session. He’s getting closer.
“We have a lot of important games coming up, but in terms of Jefferson’s availability for the weekend we’ll have to wait and see.”
Fellow summer arrival David Brooks impressed Howe last Saturday and could remain in the starting XI, while the rest of the squad is looking strong for the game.
Howe added: “We’re in a pretty good place injury-wise. We’re still without Junior [Stanislas] and Kyle [Taylor] through injury, and Diego [Rico] remains suspended. Other than that, we’re in a good position.”
