Norris Suffers Injury Scare Ahead Of Belgian GP

McLaren driver Lando Norris is currently wearing a leg brace although he is expected to be fit for this weekend’s Belgian Grand Prix.

The Brit is in his rookie season with McLaren, but he has accumulated 24 points over the first half of the season and has helped the Woking-based outfit emerge as the ‘best of the rest’, as they currently sit fourth in the Constructors’ Championship Standings.

However, the 19-year-old was seen wearing a leg brace over the weekend – casting doubt over his involvement at Spa this weekend in the first race back after the summer break.

Losing Norris would certainly be a blow for McLaren, but the British team have now moved to allay those concerns by revealing that the teenager is only wearing the brace as a precautionary measure after inflaming a tendon in his left foot.

“Lando mildly inflamed a tendon in his left foot while out running when he was on holiday,” a McLaren statement revealed. “If it was anyone else they wouldn’t be wearing a boot, it’s belt and braces for a couple of days to isolate it while it recovers. “It’s precautionary. He inflamed a tendon running but all good.

Looks way more dramatic than it is.” Only Ferrari (17) have won the Belgian Grand Prix on more occasions then McLaren (14), although the British team’s last win at Spa was with Jenson Button back in 2012.
