Norwich 2-3 Chelsea

Norwich 2-3 Chelsea

Chelsea secured their first victory of the season with a thrilling 3-2 win against Norwich City at a sweltering Carrow Road.

Tammy Abraham was the match-winner for Frank Lampard’s side, grabbing a brace in an enthralling encounter.

Abraham fired Chelsea ahead after only three minutes, turning Cesar Azpilicueta’s cross past Tim Krul in the Canaries goal.

However, unchanged Norwich were behind for only three minutes as Todd Cantwell finished off a sweet move involving Emiliano Buendia and last weekend’s hat-trick hero Teemu Pukki.

There were only 17 minutes on the clock when Chelsea regained the lead, Mason Mount lashing a sublime shot past former Newcastle United goalkeeper Krul.

Chelsea almost scored another goal midway through the first half only for Krul to tip Andreas Christensen’s point-blank header over the bar.

However, Norwich made it 2-2 on the half-hour mark when Pukki scored his fifth Premier League goal of the season, beating Kepa Arrizabalaga with an angled shot after being played in by Buendia.

Chelsea made a great start to the second half with Mount, Jorginho, Azpilicueta and Christian Pulisic going close to scoring before the pressure finally paid dividends in the 68th minute when Abraham bamboozled Grant Hanley and Jamal Lewis before firing a low effort past Krul.

Norwich refused to accept defeat though and Ben Godfrey headed against the crossbar while Daniel Farke made three substitutions with nine minutes left in a bid to rescue a point from the game although Chelsea hung on to clinch a welcome victory.
