Norwich Wait On Tettey As Skipper Limps Out Of Clarets Loss

Norwich are sweating on the fitness of Alex Tettey after he picked up a thigh strain in the defeat at Burnley on Saturday. The Canaries slipped to a 2-0 defeat at Turf Moor but to make matters worse, captain Tettey limped out of the action with just 12 minutes on the clock, and they now face an anxious wait to discover the full extent of the damage.

The defeat was a huge come down from the highs of the week before when they had beaten Premier League champions Manchester City.

Goalkeeper Tim Krul made it through the game but was not fully fit, and despite seeing his lengthy injury list added to, Canaries boss Farke did not use that as an excuse and dismissed suggestions there may have been a hangover from last weekend’s result. “Not at all because we are modest enough and down to earth enough that we know this game against Man City has nothing to do with the game today,” he said.

“We were exactly prepared for what would happen today. I didn’t underestimate this game and I knew we have to be from the first second to the last second at our best in order to be ready to be win some points and sadly our first 15 minutes were not good enough.”

Clarets striker Chris Wood grabbed both goals in the win and Farke felt a slow start to the match had been the difference between the sides. “Of course we are disappointed with the result,” he said. “It was a close game I think but my feeling was the first 15 minutes were crucial today and the first 15 minutes cost the game.

“We had the first big chance in the game and (Nick) Pope made a, I would say, world-class save. It would have been a completely different game but my feeling is we didn’t start proactive enough so were always a bit slow and not really convinced to play our style.”
