Marseille haven’t given up on landing Olivier Giroud and intend to make a move for the striker next summer. The Ligue 1 outfit tried to snare the France international in the off-season but Giroud rejected their advances in order to stick with the Stamford Bridge club.
Giroud is due to fall out of contract next summer and last month revealed he hoped to sign an extension, but if he is not offered fresh terms OM hope to convince him to make the move to the Velodrome.
The 31-year-old has so far featured in three of Chelsea’s four Premier League matches under Maurizio Sarri, but the former Arsenal and Montpellier man has yet to start and it remains unclear as to whether or not he figures in the manager’s long-term plans.
