Pakistan Need Seven Wickets For Aussie Scalp

Pakistan are closing in on victory in the first Test after reducing Australia to 136-3 in pursuit of 462 in Dubai. Having dominated the opening three days it was the same story on Wednesday, with the Asians declaring their second innings on 181-6, leaving the Aussies a mountainous and unlikely victory target.

The Baggy Greens made a decent start, with Aaron Finch hitting 49 before becoming the first of three wickets for Mohammad Abbas.

The paceman also claimed the scalps of brothers Shaun and Mitchell Marsh, with the siblings both out without scoring to leave the Aussies reeling on 87-3.

However, Usman Khawaja remains unbeaten on 50 and will have Travis Head (34 not out) for company when battle is resumed on Thursday morning.

It has been a dominant display by the ‘home’ side, who scored 482 in their first knock before bowling out the opposition for just 202.

They now need seven wickets to complete the victory before the sides go at it again in Abu Dhabi next week.
