Palace Keeping Tabs On Palmeiras Defender

Reports in South America claim Crystal Palace have been scouting Paraguay international Gustavo Gomez. Manager Roy Hodgson is yet to add to his squad this summer but reports in South America suggest Gomez is a top target.

Palace have been watching the 26-year-old former AC Milan centre-back in action for Paraguay at the Copa America in Brazil this month. He missed their opening match against Qatar but played the full 90 minutes in the draw with Argentina and the loss to Colombia.

The Eagles may have further opportunities to cast an eye over Gomez in the coming days as Los Guaranies have qualified for the knockout stages, despite finishing third in their group. It appears that the Premier League club are focussing on South American talent this summer, having also been linked with Santos defender Lucas Verissimo.
