Alex Pascanu says he is focused on doing his job at Leicester City amid rumours of interest from Romania. Pascanu, who moved to the UK aged five and has been at the King Power Stadium since he was eight, has been steadily progressing through the youth ranks and is currently playing for the Under-23’s in Premier League 2.
The Romania Under-21 international is said to be attracting interest from Steaua Bucharest, Universitatea Craiova and Astra Giurgiu – who all play in the top tier in his homeland – and the trio may be able to land the defender on a free.
Leicester, who are sitting 10th in England’s top flight, are yet to offer the 20-year-old a new deal and his current contract is set to expire at the end of the season.
When asked about the transfer rumours, Pascanu dismissed the reports and says his only focus right now is with the Foxes. “I have seen (the speculation), but for now I do not know anything (of concrete offers),” he said. “I see my job at the club in Leicester and see my business there and work as hard as I can. “Yes, I want to take a step to a senior team, whether it’s in Romania or abroad.”
