Pep Not Concerned Over Jesus Form

Gabriel Jesus’ recent frustrations in front of goal aren’t a ‘major concern’ for Pep Guardiola, according to Etihad insiders. The Manchester City striker has scored just twice this season and last found the back on the net in the Premier League in the 6-1 demolition of Huddersfield Town way back on August 19.

Jesus is cutting an increasingly frustrated figure and his mood wasn’t helped recently when he was passed over for a late penalty award at Liverpool which team-mate Riyad Mahrez duly then missed.

The 21-year-old is suffering the first real goal drought of his career and spurned a couple of decent opportunities to score in the Citizens’ impressive 3-0 Champions League victory over Shakhtar Donetsk on Tuesday night.

It’s understood, however, Guardiola remains happy with his effort and is convinced the goals will start to flow again soon for the likeable samba star, who is also still having to play second fiddle to top scorer Sergio Aguero.

The City boss has attempted this term to play both men at the same time but Jesus is invariably the person to always make way, although his manager has been at pains to reiterate to the former Palmeiras starlet that he holds no doubts about him.
