Pochettino – We Must Move On

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has urged his side to move on after their top four hopes were dented by Bournemouth. The north London outfit travelled to the south coast on the back of their Champions League defeat to Ajax and they left with nothing after Nathan Ake’s stoppage-time header.

Tempers flared at the Vitality Stadium as Son Heung-Min and Juan Foyth were dismissed either side of half-time. England international Eric Dier was also lucky to stay on the field and he got subbed off for Foyth, who saw red inside the first 10 minutes of the second half.

Ake’s goal ensured Bournemouth recorded their first Premier League win over Spurs and Pochettino says he is happy to move on as he tries to end the season on a high. He told reporters: “I will respect the decision of the referee [on the red cards]. Nothing to say. That is football. Unlucky for us – of course it is difficult to get something positive. We made a massive effort.

“It is painful to play with two players [sent off]. We need to move on. We cannot change the decisions. We have ahead two finals. It is in our hands. If it does not happen we will be proud because nobody expected Tottenham to be in the position they are today.

“No one believed in Tottenham to be in this position in the last week of the competition. What happens will happen and I will feel proud. We are fighting six teams, it is impossible for all six to get the top four, whatever happens I will feel proud and whatever happens in the semi-final I will be proud.”
