Poor Run Is Fuel For Clarets – Dyche

Sean Dyche claims Burnley’s poor run of form will be used as “fuel” by the players to try and return to winning ways. The Clarets chief was speaking after watching his side crash to a third successive defeat against West Ham at the London Stadium on Saturday.

It means last season’s surprise package when finishing sixth and qualifying for the Europa League now sit down in 15th place, three points above the relegation zone, while they have conceded an alarming 13 goals in those three losses.

Johann Berg Gudmundsson had put Burnley level just before half-time against the Hammers after Marko Arnautovic fired the hosts ahead.

Felipe Anderson put West Ham back in front but they were pegged back again by Chris Wood’s header 13 minutes from time.

However, Anderson grabbed his second on 84 minutes before Javier Hernandez wrapped up a 4-2 win for the Londoners.

Dyche said: “There’s work to be done but the mentality on show today was very positive. The margins are fine. “It’s the first time we’ve had a sticky spell in quite a long time, but it’s fuel for us.”
