Paris Saint-Germain’s Ligue 1 game against Montpellier on Saturday has been postponed amid security fears in the French capital. The ‘gilet jaune’ protests continue to cause chaos in Paris and the French League have decided to postpone the game after talks with the local police.
PSG had been expecting to take on Montpellier on Saturday at 5pm but the fixture will now be played in 2019 instead. “Following a request from the Prefecture of Police, the LFP has postponed the match between Paris Saint-Germain and Montpellier HSC,” a statement read. “The Commission of Competitions of the LFP will fix another date for the match.”
Despite the disappointment of losing the fixture, PSG may welcome the news as they try to nurse Neymar back to full fitness.
He missed the draw with Bordeaux and could do with another week’s rest ahead of the Champions League game with Red Star Belgrade on December 11.
