Puel Urges Foxes To Rise To Occasion

Manager Claude Puel hopes Leicester’s form against the bigger teams continues in the next three Premier League matches. The Foxes beat both Chelsea and Manchester City over the festive period while they also drew with Pep Guardiola’s men earlier in December in the Carabao Cup before losing in a penalty shoot-out.

The East Midlanders sit ninth in the top-flight standings as results against the so-called lesser teams have left a lot to be desired.

Puel’s men have lost to Bournemouth, Crystal Palace, Cardiff, Southampton and Wolves, and there is a sense that they could be knocking on the door of the top six had they shown more consistency this term.

The next three games will prove a tough test as they travel to Anfield to take on table-topping Liverpool on Wednesday before Manchester United visit the King Power Stadium on Sunday.

Then the 2015-16 Premier League champions make the trip to Wembley to go up aghast Tottenham on February 10 and Puel wants his charges to replicate the displays they gave in downing the big guns earlier in the campaign. “The three next games is a fantastic challenge for them,” he said.

“We have shown we can perform against good teams, we have won games also against good teams. I hope we can continue in this way. “My players prefer to play against good teams like this and to show their level.

It’s less pressure, they can give their best with freedom. In this situation we can create an upset.”
