Ramos Reveals Title Ambition

Captain Sergio Ramos is confident that Real Madrid can still overhaul La Liga leaders Barcelona and win the title this season. The 32-year-old Spain international defender was delighted after his 42nd-minute penalty was sandwiched between Casemiro’s opener and Gareth Bale’s 100th Los Blancos’ goal in a 3-1 derby win at Atletico Madrid on Saturday.

Real have now won six of their past seven games and have moved to within five points of Barca, who play their game in hand at Athletic Bilbao on Sunday evening.

And, while it looks a tall order for Real to make up the deficit, Ramos is refusing to give up hope with 15 matches still remaining this season. “We fulfilled our objective to recover our position in the table and reduce the distance to the leaders and now we will wait to see how they do,” he told BeIN Sports. “It was very a complete performance from us and I think that the result is fair. I thought our performance was very intelligent and now the league is still to be fought for. “There are many points up for grabs and any team can cause problems, as was seen in the first half of the season. “We have hope and are going to fight for three competitions. The league motivates us and we want to continue fighting for it and make life difficult for Barcelona.”
