Despite being delighted with the win, Ranieri is demanding improvement, particularly in defence as they conceded two soft goals, which almost allowed Saints back into it.
Fulham are the only one of the 92 English league sides not to have kept a clean sheet this season after Macclesfield kept out Yeovil in League Two on Saturday. “I ask just this: never, never give up,” Ranieri said. “Work hard until the end, at the end we’ll see the result.
It was a good match. Southampton had a chance to score a goal (to draw). Sergio Rico made a fantastic save. “That is no good. Because I want less chances for the opponent. It’s good for Sergio. But it’s not good as a manager. Too many chances.”
