Warrington full-back Stefan Ratchford hopes he is called up by England for the Test series against New Zealand. England take on France on October 17 before a three-match series with the Kiwis, which begins on October 27 at the KCOM Stadium in Hull.
Ratchford is well aware he faces a fight to secure a place in Wayne Bennett’s squad and hopes he can impress for Warrington in the remainder of the Super League season to ensure he gets the nod.
“Hopefully I’ll be involved,” he told the Warrington website. “You can never guarantee that on the international scene. It’s just about working hard now over the next three or four games and hopefully if we can come up with a Grand Final appearance and get the win then it might just edge me towards securing an international spot but you can never be certain until it’s announced.
“Hopefully I’ll be involved in some sort and get another chance to pull on the England shirt. We had a real good performance in Denver in June and we’ve become a real good tight-knit group over the last couple of years and hopefully that will continue this Autumn.”
Ratchford was involved in the last England squad for the mid-season Test win against New Zealand in Denver, USA, in June.
Warrington have already secured a top four place in the Super 8s with two games remaining and will have a chance to battle for Grand Final glory.
