Real Target City Swoop

Real Madrid are said to have reignited their interest in Raheem Sterling as Manchester City struggle to tie him down to a new deal. The England international still has two years remaining on his current deal but City are keen to secure his future by getting him tied down to a new one as soon as possible.

Negotiations have been far from smooth and that has kicked off reports suggesting that Real are monitoring the situation with a view to launching a bid at the end of the season.

City boss Pep Guardiola recently stated how much they want him to stay with the club, but also admitted anything can happen in football.

“It’s clear since the first day I arrived we want him, but the deals are the deals, and the agents are the agents, and the players are the players,” Guardiola said.

“So, at the end I don’t know what is going to happen. But I assure you 100 per cent that the club, myself like a manager, sport director, even his team-mates, we want him to stay longer here.”

Sterling has often said how tempted he would be to move abroad and the chance to play for Real could be too good to turn down, if they come knocking.
