Liverpool full-back Alberto Moreno is being linked with Barcelona as their coach Ernesto Valverde wants cover at left-back. With Alba the only natural left-back in Barca’s first team, following Lucas Digne’s summer move to Everton, Valverde is searching for a back-up and a January move for former Sevilla defender Moreno could be on the cards.
Moreno has fallen behind Andy Robertson as Liverpool’s first-choice left-back and, with his contract running out at the end of the season, would be available on the cheap in the new year.
Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is unlikely to block a move if Barca came knocking, while Moreno would no doubt jump at the chance to join the Catalan giants.
Meanwhile, Barca do have options as Arsenal’s Nacho Monreal is also reportedly another target for Valverde as he looks for experienced players to add to his Nou Camp squad.
Monreal is currently getting a run in the Gunners first team while Sead Kolisinac is out injured but is likely to lose his place as soon he is fit again, with Barca said to be monitoring the situation.
