Reus hails comeback victory

Marco Reus was delighted with Borussia Dortmund’s desire to win as they came from 1-0 down to see off FC Koln on Friday night. Koln led 1-0 with 20 minutes to play but three late goals from Jadon Sancho, Achraf Hakimi and Paco Alcacer ensured BVB took all three points.

Reus concedes Dortmund weren’t at their best in the opening exchanges but he praised the spirit they showed to fight back and secure the victory.

He told the club website: “One has to admit that our performance in the opening half wasn’t good; we didn’t play well on the whole and lost possession of the ball frequently. After going 1-0 down, it took some time to gather ourselves.

“We said in the interval that we simply needed to be more aggressive and show more attacking prowess. The good substitutions enabled us to apply even more pressure. If we get the opportunities to score, then we need to take them.

That worked out well today. But it doesn’t just happen by itself, it all requires lots of hard work. “I think that we then showed a good reaction in the second half.”
