Reus Takes Positives From Missed Barca Chance

Marco Reus says Borussia Dortmund paid the price for a number of missed chances as they had to settle for a goalless draw with Barcelona. Reus himself could have won the Champions League clash from the penalty spot late on, only to see his effort saved by Barca keeper Marc-Andre ter-Stegen, but it was not the only miss of the night.

Reus was denied again as Ter Stegen pulled off a double save, while Julian Brandt beat the keeper late on but saw his effort hit the bar.

Thorgan Hazard went close and Paco Alcacer squandered a great chance against his former club, and for all their trying, Lucien Favre’s men could not find a way through.

Even so, Reus says BVB cannot be downbeat after the draw though and must take the positives after dominating the second half. “Unfortunately, my penalty was a poor strike. But we also had four or five other opportunities,” Reus said.

“We should’ve put one of them away and then we would’ve ended up as the winners. But we can build on that performance.

“Barcelona hardly had any chances and only the little space that we allowed them. We said after the draw that we wanted to qualify. It’s all to play for after the first matchday. “We now need to reproduce what we showed today in the upcoming matches. If we do, I have no concerns whatsoever that we can achieve our objective.”
