Rhinos Forward Out Until May

Leeds Rhinos forward Stevie Ward is expected to be out until the end of May after undergoing knee surgery. The 25-year-old suffered the injury in Leeds’ Super League defeat at St Helens on February 22 and has now undergone an operation in order to ensure he makes a full recovery.

Rhinos head coach Dave Furner says the club decided on the surgery to give him the best chance of making a return as soon as possible, but it looks unlikely he will play again until early summer.

“The process has been started to make sure, long term, that Stevie’s knee is right,” Furner said. “The surgeon was very confident that he could repair the damage and Stevie will be working had to get back ready to go for the team.”

Ward has been with Leeds since 2012 and has racked up 133 appearances for the West Yorkshire outfit, scoring 23 tries.
