Rondon Linked With Black Country Transfer

West Brom’s Salomon Rondon could become the first player in 25 years to cross the Black Country divide, with Wolves ready to pounce.

The Venezuelan has enjoyed a superb campaign at St James’ Park, scoring 11 goals in 32 appearances.

Rondon’s form helped Newcastle avoid relegation but he remains a Baggies player and is set to report for pre-season training in July.

The Championship club are set to sell him and Wolves are willing to pay his £16million release clause.

Wolves coach Nuno Espirito Santo believes he will provide ideal competition for Raul Jimenez and, with European football confirmed, they believe Rondon will reject approaches from other clubs to move to Molineux.

Left-back Paul Edwards was the last player to make the switch between the two rivals in January 1994.
