Blackburn have reportedly agreed a deal with Brighton to take highly rated goalkeeper Christian Walton on loan for 2019-20. The 23-year-old has spent the past two seasons on loan in Lancashire with Wigan, helping them to earn promotion from League One, before ensuring they stayed in the second tier last term.

Wigan were understood to be keen on taking the stopper back on loan again in 2019-20 but Blackburn appear to have won the race. Reports claim Walton travelled for a medical on Tuesday and the loan deal is set to be officially confirmed in the next 24 hours. Tony Mowbray has been frantically trying to bring in a goalkeeper following David Raya’s departure to Brentford earlier this summer.
