Southampton boss Mark Hughes says the fact his side are creating chances is what reassures him they will be fine this season. The south coast outfit find themselves just above the relegation zone on goal difference after only managing to secure eight points from their first 12 games of the campaign.

Pressure has been mounting on Hughes but reports suggest the Welshman will be given time to turn things around at St Mary’s.
Hughes feels his side have looked strong in creating chances and feels that will stand them in good stead for the remainder of the campaign, as they once again look to avoid the drop. “Even against top quality opposition we will always create chances and that’s a good thing and a reassuring thing,” he told the Daily Echo.
“If we weren’t creating anything and were just trying to slog our way through this season we would be more worried than we are. “We are capable of winning games in this league and everybody who has seen us play this season will attest to that.”
